Mobile Consumers Now The Reality Not The Next Big Thing

This headline leads to one of the most critical business questions 2012: Are your business properly equipped for this reality? Social media is not about technology, it’s about people. This is a pretty common expression in the era of web 2.0, and of course I agree. But right now brands can’t neglect any-longer to also pay attention to web technology, and I’m not talking about developing a new Facebook page here. Brands must make an inventory of their websites and check the equipment so it is up to date for the mobile era. When you are doing this you will discover there are some different ways to choose if you want to make your site digestible for mobile users. One option you can choose is responsive web design.

Responsive Web Design

When you are browsing the desired responsive website from a mobile device you will experience it different regarding what kind of screen-size your device have. This blog mattiasgronborg.com is now responsive and you can experience the differences live how this blog adapts in relations to your devices if your are visiting from a smart phone, iPad or a desktop. Hear you can find a clear guide regarding responsive web design.

Let’s Clear The Why

Brands need to pay attention to how consumers are becoming increasingly more mobile equipped, consumers don’t need a traditional desktop computer to access or publish information and experiences (status updates reviews, pictures and videos). Browsing Internet from a mobile devise is not just a trend, it’s a part of the evolution of Internet. Mobile devices are blurring the line between the online and offline world and mobile customers daily online habits affects everything. They make buying decisions through their social graphs, and the mobile phones are becoming a critical factor in this decision-making cycle. Mobile is becoming increasingly important in how people, regardless of generation, find, consume and share information.

Ditto Dave's comment. I'm just updating a couple of my blogs and you are totally right they need to be updated from a technology perspective too. I'm always saying to clients that they need to review the technology they use at least once a year to make sure that it is up to date for their clients needs and every two years for the actual design. Time I started following my own advice ;)

I read this post while I'm redesigning my blog. Perhaps I'll have to revisit it to make sure it is responsive :)
