Offline Advertisers Need To Wake Up And Extending Their Message Online

On daily basis I get reminded of how poorly offline advertisers spending their money because they don’t extend their message online, we can see this at TV, newspapers and billboards advertisements. Yesterday we talked about the importance of building new business muscles during 2012, if you don’t, you’ll lose a significant amount of business this year.

Offline Subway Advertisement

I’m commuting by subway almost every day and every passenger have their eyeballs on their smartphones or in a free newspaper like Metro, but if you raise your eyes and look around you can see different advertisement messages and it’s sometimes impossible not to see them because you are waiting for the next station so you are actually reading them.

Think Mobile And Connect The Dots

The photo above is a typical example and I took this picture before Christmas and Expert (Swedish page) is advertising their campaign for mobile phones, but there is no QR code, they have not even their web address to the online store at this banner. There is no calls of action whatsoever! It’s only push, push and more push and they are losing a significant amount of business.

What do you think?

Exactly - I was looking at that ad and thinking, "Where's the QR Code?"

it could lead to a specific video or mobile lading page. 2012 is the year... :)

connectyouconnectyou What is your experiences in U.S regarding QR codes? Are companies applying QR codes in advertisement? And thanks Keri for dropping by here.

Mattias Gronborg , some companies are using them. The ones that are forward thinking. The rest of the US is still sleeping. We do not see them often enough.

I couldn't agree more. My family and I drove from Atlanta, GA to Jacksonville, FL and one company must have spent thousands of dollars on dozens of billboards along a stretch of highway. Yet... I was unable to find a url for their site, a Facebook fan page, anything that would lead people to their store. It's a shame to say the least!

knikkoletteknikkolette Thanks for participating! It should be interesting to see what happens when we reach that tipping point when advertises starting to pay attention to this shift. I think much will happen this year for some companies but we need to wait a couple of more years a believe.
