Today our reailty Facebook deals tour continued when we entered the Statoil gas station at Birger Jarlsgatan in Stockholm to check out how they market their Facebook deals offline in the store. They are selling gas, car wash, car rental, food and many other products.
Summarize this video
First we talked about @jonaspmoller and his experience when he visited McDonald’s and tried their Facebook deal.
McDonald’s is also educating their fans how they should use Facebook deals with a great video click here. (Swedish couldn’t find any video in English).
Statoil in-store promotion
This Statoil store didn’t have any in-store promotion at all for the Facebook deal. They didn’t have any stickers or posters on the wall. No roll-up on the floor. The first staff member we talked to didn’t knew if he should execute on the coffee deal or the Red Bull deal.
Social media strategy online & offline
This is what happens when you don’t have a clear social media strategy and you get online without synchronization between the online and offline world. We know that Statoil have Kevin as a coffee coach but we think you really need a social media coach, because you will not build super hard core fans this way. We believe that Statoil needs to sharpen up their social media strategy and connect the dots online and offline.
Statoil is right on track as an early executer
This is our opinions and constructive feedback. We are aware of the complexity when implementing Facebook deals in the stores. We also want to give cred to Statoil as an early adopter of the future. Have you tried Statoil Facebook deals? What do you think? Please leave a comment!
