The Importance of a Business Blog is Increasing Not Decreasing

The video cannot be shown at the moment. Please try again later.

This is the first video in our blog series: How to develop a business blog strategy that supports your bottom line. When we do workshops for C level executives about social media marketing and start talking about blogging, people are always looking at each other, blogging? We thought this session was about social media or Facebook? A bit down the road they start to realize the importance of a blog and an online base for your business online.

Google like fresh stuff

Searchmanager (Swedish blog) is talking about how blogging has always been important and an efficent way for websites to index content and rank better in Google. Google recently released their latest ranking update called freshness, and basically Google wants to index more fresh and updated content, can you find any more fresh stuff then content from a frequently updated company blog?

Taking this into consideration putting up fresh content frequently on your blog will be rewarded big time.

So don’t let your blog become a dead town

A lot of companies abandoned their business blog because they didn’t have the time to keep it fresh week after week, and it’s still scary when you visit a blog and it was last updated 2009, we call it a dead town. Companies are running today into Facebook with a mindset that it is a much more easy environment there; I often hear the phrase: “You don’t need to update Facebook as often as your blog”. Really? I think with that mindset, you are missing context of real time marketing but that is the next video post so let’s get back to step number one here.

First question to ask

Why should we have a business blog? The first step and question starts with you and you need to understand where we should aim, and you can for an example choose to create a blog to enhance one of those three purposes.

  • Brand awareness
  • Leads (sales)
  • Loyalty (customer service)

It’s your turn

Do you think you need a business blog? Or if you already have a one; what kind of business objection are your blog addressing?

We mentioned in the video another post when we talked about the social thermometer. We also referred to a blog post about Telia. Great posts you need to check them out!
