@mattgron, i forgot to mention the bottomline of this 5 minutes talk.

it is simple.

The bottom line is, you can always change your link structure later (menu, featued products and such).

But the URL structure should remain intact as long as possible, therefor it's worth the time to make a extra effort to get that right from the beguinning.
