Video Interview With David Meerman Scott #eme2011

David Meerman Scott is a keynote speaker. He presents to audiences all over the world on the ways to generate attention and build business. Scott’s ideas on social media are popular around the world. His book The New Rules of Marketing & PR (affiliate link) is being published in 24 languages and is a BusinessWeek bestselling book. We got an opportunity to chat with David and ask him some questions about e-mail marketing at Email Marketing Evolved 2011. The audio is good in the video (most important) but the picture is a bit foggy because of wrong setup. But the message is still clear.

David answered two questions about email marketing

1, What is the most important thing to consider when you integrate email marketing into social media?

  • David explains the concept he is calling real time. A lot of email marketers is planning for next week or next month. Instead they should focus on what happens right now in the world; this can create a huge marketing advantage because people search for breaking news (real time).

2, What is the biggest fear people have around e-mail marketing?

  • The biggest fear is doing something different, It’s a human instinct to be afraid; it’s natural. The challenge is to overcome it and go outside the box and create breaking news.

Thank you David for sharing your knowledge with us.

mattgron ,

Nice post! I'm so glad you were able to get the conference and meet dmscott .

While some of my email marketing campaigns (for my personal brand) have been planned, many of them have been more "now" oriented. And it has served well. So, it's nice to see some affirmation from David.

Status Quo - I'm allergic. If I'm not getting dirty in the new, I feel like I'm getting dusty in the old. I don't understand how people an be afraid of venturing something they don't know. But it is true -- we must be sensitive to that.

Remember Social Media Success Summit 2011 -- David Meerman Scott's "What's the second paragraph?," concept??

For you... If you can combine your enthusiasm with that 2nd P mindset - You will rock, Mattias!! :)

Thanks for interviewing Mr. Scott, and for allowing us to view his words, your interview!

Mattias Gronborg Thanks for your shining comment!

David's SMSS session inspired me to be thinking, "what's the second paragraph?" And has led to good engagement from others on occasion since! :)

I will certainly continue to contribute to your online community, and look forward to future posts. Also any possible collaboration. :)
