Taking on new hobbies and comparing them to entrepreneurship

In today's episode, Mattias talks about why he picked up boxing and what it has to do with entrepreneurship.

Taking on new things

About ten weeks ago, Mattias decided to pick up a new hobby: boxing. Mattias has been practicing various sports throughout the years. After doing crossfit, high-intensity, and strength training, he wanted to try something new that would also challenge his brain and coordination.

After a couple of guys at his gym asked Mattias if he wanted to join the new boxing class they were setting up, he felt this was the perfect opportunity to give it a try. The first couple of weeks his training sessions involved boxing into pads. Now he started to go into some light sparring sessions with the others.

When Svea asks him if he isn't worried about getting injured in these sparring sessions, he explains that you could get hurt doing any kind of sport and that it's part of an active lifestyle. He explains that doing crossfit might even be more dangerous because people often drop heavy weights without paying proper attention.

Reactive thinking

Mattias sees a lot of parallels between boxing and entrepreneurship. You don't know what's coming next, and you need to react quickly. You're also making quite a personal journey in your progression, which reminds him of being an entrepreneur. Often people think that building a company can be compared to a chess game when in reality, it is a round of boxing.
